One of the largest education events for people of faith, The Merge Summit features over 100 of entertainment’s top artists and executives “paying it forward” by leading interactive panel discussions, workshops and master class sessions covering music, television, film, artistry, branding and more. Carter is also the Chair of Freedom of Spirit, an outreach ministry dedicated to serving the homeless and less fortunate in South Los Angeles that was started by her parents, the late Reverend Billy and Mrs. Ruth Watkins.
On the ministry side, Carter is a licensed Evangelist in the Churches of God in Christ. She attends New Antioch Church of God in Christ where Superintendent Jeffrey M. Lewis is her Pastor, and serves as Praise and Worship Leader and Director of The Fine Arts Department. Finally, along with Emmy Award Winning Casting Director Robi Reed, Carter created The ASCEND Bible Movement as a monthly entertainment industry bible study. The bible study draws hundreds of attendees every month. A graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) with an MBA in Marketing and Entertainment, Carter also holds a Doctorate of Divinity from the Southern California School of Ministry with an emphasis on marketplace ministry, merging the sacred and the secular.
